Baby Sweaters, Designing, Dyeing

Too many ideas, not enough time!

Too many ideas, not enough time!

Things have been sooo busy lately. I’ve been dyeing up more yarns. . . . and just got a new shipment of sock yarn in that I need to start skeining up for Monday so I can dye more. This past week I did a restock of some of the “classic sock” colorways that had sold out and I dyed up some “Caffine” in a blue/purple colorway that I really like, perhaps enough to add it to the permanent line of colorways. . . .

I’m also working on several design projects at the moment. I’m knitting up a sweater that will be submitted for publication . . . and I’ve got ideas for at least 2 3 more that I want to get done in the next few weeks . . . 2 of them for fall and one for winter. And I’ve got 2 sock ideas and another small project idea that I want to submit different places and I’ve got 3 Mystery kit ideas that need to be worked up!

Yeah, too many ideas and not enough time.

Oh, and I’m still working my way through the baby sweater list; I’m knitting them while I wait for my “baby” to fall asleep each night since I now have the pattern totally memorized and can knit them almost entirely by sense of feel rather than needing to actually see what I’m doing. I’ve finished (except buttons a couple) 5 of the so far and I’m on the button band on #6 with #7 already on the needles and started just a little and another version for a photo for a pattern about 1/2 done but that doesn’t really count since I won’t be giving that one away . . . I’m actually thinking its time to design another soon since I’m getting bored with making this one, I need to do something else relatively simple so I can keep knitting them at bedtime. Luckily some of the babies I’m knitting for are not due for a few months yet!

Okay, off to send a couple of emails and then the little guy and I need to run to the post office ;)

One of the wonderful . . .

One of the wonderful . . .

things about being your own boss is that you get to decide what the priorities are (mostly)! Today was such a beautiful day that despite the fact that my self-made work schedule calls for Monday to be the dyeing day (start the week with a bang) I just couldn’t think of being stuck inside and around pots of boiling water all day!

So I’ve rearranged my schedule for the week and decided that the things I was going to do on Thursday, like paperwork & computer stuff, of which there turned out to not be all that much, and work on the design I’m hoping to finish by the end of the month got moved to today. Thursday is now going to be dyeing day this week; the weather will be perfect for it, 50s and overcast/raining.

That meant that after getting a few house things done and doing some office work I was able to take my little yard chair and my knitting/design project outside and work in the fresh air. Since Nonna and the little guy were out I was on my own for lunch and I did something I haven’t done in ages. I called up the road and ordered Sushi and it was Delicious! I brought it back and sat at the table in the yard and enjoyed every bite. Just as I was finishing, Nonna and the toddler returned and I took him back for a while so Nonna could rest up.

She took him tonight so I could go to knitting, I had some books to deliver and I brought most of the newer yarns with me as “show and tell” and managed to come home as few skeins lighter. Thank you ladies.

I’m planning in my mind now what the colorways for Thursday are going to look like and I’ve made some changes to what yarns I plan to dye more of . . . its interesting how seeing other peoples reactions to the yarns I’ve dyed influences what I feel like creating . . . interesting.

Okay, off to do a few other things and then I’m calling it a night. I’m pooped! ;)

Of all the new batches of yarn I just posted, I think this is my favorite colorway.

Actually, looking at this now I’m thinking perhaps I need to take another round of pictures as this doesn’t really do it justice. . . .

Perhaps tomorrow I’ll drag the whole kit and kaboddle outside for a morning photo shoot . . . provided I get to have some coffee first!

This morning I was coming out to the office to check some mail and had to scale a babygate before I’d had coffee, it was brewing at the time, and I managed to really crack my knee on the partially open door. Caught it right on the corner. I went back to the kitchen for tylenol and ice but it still hurts almost 12 hours later . . . not a fun thing.

Well, little guy is napping and I’m off to get a few things done before he wakes up. I shouldn’t be letting him nap so late but he was really, really tired and getting very crabby. Ah well.

Psssst!

Psssst!

I’m gonna let you in on a “secret”. The new yarns & new colorways and even a sale on Denise needle kits have been posted on Inspirations Yarn.

I’ve given the mailing list the first heads up and I’ll be posting it to KR and a few other spots tomorrow so now is your chance to get in there before the rush. Last time I added new stuff a couple of colorways were gone within hours!

Off to wind more yarn . . .

Happy Birthday Grammy!

My grandmother is 86 yo today! We’re planning to go see her after lunch. From what I hear she’s really not doing well; getting loopier by the day but she managed to hang in ther to her birthday! Pehaps I’ll stop at the bakery and get her a really gooey cupcake to celebrate.

This photo was taken last summer, at the little guys first birthday. Grammy is the one on the right, My mom is the one on the left . . . Isn’t Grammy cute all dressed up for the party? She had a ball that day, watching the little ones running around. Actually, she had a choice that day between coming to his party and going to the funeral of a very dear friend of hers. She chose the birthday party will the full knowledge that her friend would have wanted her to spend the day with the babies.

More yarns are coming . . .

yesterday was a dyeing day and I managed to do about 11# of yarn, some of it sock, some others. That’s in additon to the stuff I dyed up last Thursday. I’m working now on reskeining the stuff from last week and once yesterdays is dry enough to handle I start on that too. I’m hoping tomorrow morning will be bright enough for me to get some decent pictures of everthing. If it is, you’ll see new yarns posted on the site tomorrow. I’ve got new yarns and new colorways going up so lots of fun stuff.

Well, back to editing web pages so I’ll be ready when the photos are done. . . .
