Knitting

hint, hint

I’ve got some big news to share . . . and I’ve left you a clue . . . notice anything new in the sidebar?

Knitting

A little of this, a little of that . . .

Things have just been kinda plodding along here . . .

This past week we went to the Topsfield Fair.  The little guy had a blast! We checked out most of the exhibits, had lunch and then went to the barns and the petting zoo (animals after the food, thank you) and while we were in the petting zoo  the little guy got to go for an Elephant ride!

First he watched several other groups go around and then said he did want to go.  He was fine initially but once the animal started moving he got pretty nervous and was even crying a bit.  Now that its over he really likes to look at the pictures and gets excited when we see the Elephants in “The Jungle Book” so overall I’m glad he did it.

Knitting wise I still haven’t been doing much.  I’d like to do a sweater but there are several complicating factors and so I haven’t started anything new.  Actually, that’s not entirely true. One of Dom’s coworkers had a baby this past week (really, his wife had her but still) and so I’m knitting up a little baby cardigan from my standard pattern.  I’ve done something like a dozen of them this year and still didn’t manage to give them to everyone I probably should have!  If I’d been doing any amount of knitting lately it would be finished by now but I’m not and so it isn’t.  I’ve got one sleeve, the lower portion of the body and the button/neck trim to finish so I’m something like 1/2 done.

Chicken update

The chickens have gotten rather large now and we’ve been letting them run all over the yard.  They are starting to make quite a mess out there and it looks like it won’t be much longer until they are going to get their own little fenced in place where they can cause as much trouble as they like.

Bathroom update

We have outside walls and construction is underway on the inside walls.  There are going to be a couple of closets, a linen closet, a medicine cabinet and a bigger closet area that will have the new washer and dryer and space for the mop & pail and all that fun stuff.  This will be a vast improvement over the previous version of the same room.  I’m pretty excited about the way it is shaping up and the fact that it looks like we might have a functional bathroom by Thanksgiving!

A fun quiz

Thanks for the link Bess!

You are The Star

Hope, expectation, Bright promises.

The Star is one of the great cards of faith, dreams realised

The Star is a card that looks to the future. It does not predict any immediate or powerful change, but it does predict hope and healing. This card suggests clarity of vision, spiritual insight. And, most importantly, that unexpected help will be coming, with water to quench your thirst, with a guiding light to the future. They might say you’re a dreamer, but you’re not the only one.
