Baby Sweaters, Home & Family

Can you believe it?

Can you believe it?

We just found out that another friend is expecting! Due in September and having a girl! Its her 2nd but there is a sizeable gap in age so she may not have much baby stuff left around . . .

And I just learned that someone I had on the list is having a girl.

Guess I’m going to need some more pink yarn!

That will mean 15 baby sweaters to make this year, so far!

Gram update

We went to the little party for Gram last night. She’s about as I expected. She loved having everyone there and watching Mimmo and his cousin M run around the place. He had a ball getting to visit with his cousins. I’m so glad they have so much fun together. We’ll be having them over a lot this summer I think.

Well, gotta run, still have yarn to skein and now I’ve got to reorder some as well . . .

Happy Birthday Grammy!

My grandmother is 86 yo today! We’re planning to go see her after lunch. From what I hear she’s really not doing well; getting loopier by the day but she managed to hang in ther to her birthday! Pehaps I’ll stop at the bakery and get her a really gooey cupcake to celebrate.

This photo was taken last summer, at the little guys first birthday. Grammy is the one on the right, My mom is the one on the left . . . Isn’t Grammy cute all dressed up for the party? She had a ball that day, watching the little ones running around. Actually, she had a choice that day between coming to his party and going to the funeral of a very dear friend of hers. She chose the birthday party will the full knowledge that her friend would have wanted her to spend the day with the babies.

More yarns are coming . . .

yesterday was a dyeing day and I managed to do about 11# of yarn, some of it sock, some others. That’s in additon to the stuff I dyed up last Thursday. I’m working now on reskeining the stuff from last week and once yesterdays is dry enough to handle I start on that too. I’m hoping tomorrow morning will be bright enough for me to get some decent pictures of everthing. If it is, you’ll see new yarns posted on the site tomorrow. I’ve got new yarns and new colorways going up so lots of fun stuff.

Well, back to editing web pages so I’ll be ready when the photos are done. . . .

Designing, Home & Family, Inspirations Yarn

Wooohooo!

Wooohooo!

Very exciting news! I’ve just received word that one of my designs is going to be published! Doiny a great big happy dance!

It’s going to be a few months before it happens so I can’t say much yet but I just had to share the news ’cause I’m so excited!

I’m already working on the next thing that is being submitted somewhere . . . again, hush hush top secret. . . but I can tell you I’m having a whole lot of fun doing this!

Due to the nature of my current projects I don’t have any knitting photos to share, so how about a baby picture instead?

This is the little guy on Palm Sunday all dressed up at church. Isn’t he handsome? He was one of the most dressed-up little kids both that week and the following week at Easter!

You can’t see it in this picture but he’s even wearing a tie.

Okay, off to fix breakfast & wind yarn. Today is a dyeing day!

Going back to work

We have a new plan. I’ve “hired a Nanny” to watch the little guy 2 days a week. From now on, unless something comes up that must otherwise be dealt with, I’ll be dyeing yarns on Monday and doing paperwork, pictures and posting to the site on Thursdays.

We’ve decided to pretend that I’ve taken a part time job out of the house and have made arrangements to pay Nonna to watch him and fix lunch those 2 days. The plan is that by actually paying her we’ll all take this arrangement more seriously. For me, it means that I really do need to treat this like I’m at work and get yarn dyed and on the site so I’ll have the $ to pay her. For her it will mean she’s less likely to want to skip a week to do other things and even DH will take it more seriously that my time is for work those days, not housework. Besides, Nonna is on a fixed income and costs keep rising so it isn’t like she couldn’t use a little extra $ coming in . . . and if I can actually work on a regular basis it will be well worth the investment. Besides, I even get lunch out of the deal!

We actually did our first work day today and I did dye a batch of yarn, including 2 brand new yarns I’ve never had on the site before. I’m working still to finish them off and then once everything has dried (could be a couple of days in our current weather) I’ll be posting them to the site. And over the next couple of days I’ll be skeining off lots more sock yarn and prepping other yarns to dye up some more stuff on Monday.

I’ll post a note here when I get the new batches up so stay tuned.

Baby Sweaters

I’ve got pictures . . .

I’ve got pictures . . .

I just haven’t had a chance to get them out of the camera yet . . .

I’ve also got updates to the baby sweater list . . .

1. Shower gift sweater - done
2. Friend of a dear friend - sweater knit, needs sewing and to finish bonnet.
3. Dear Friend’s sister expecting her first - due soon
4. Dear friend’s daughter expecting #2 - due?
5. Friend from playgroup - had a baby boy last month.
6. Friend from playgroup - due late June, isn’t telling pink or blue!
7. Friend from playgroup - due in August? doesn’t know pink or blue yet
8. Friend from playgroup - due ??? pink or blue???
9. Friend from playgroup - had a baby boy 2 wks ago.
10. Friend from playgroup - due???
11. DH’s coworker who just had a boy
12. DH’s coworker whom he believes to be due in June.
13. DH’s coworker - due date unknown

Yeah, he came home the other night and asked if I happened to have an “extra” baby sweater lying around! Okay. So I’m giving him one that I was going to give to someone else and I’m back to knititng more anyway . . . . and then he tells me that one of the girls from work is also expecting and he thinks she may be due in June and having a girl, though he’s not sure. So the list keeps getting longer . . . . I actually did go buy another bag of the baby yarn I’ve been using, the DK weight stuff cause with a list this long fingering just isn’t going to be fast enough!

Off to get DS ready for playgroup. Pictures later if I can manage it.
