This has turned into a very different Saturday than I had expected to have. I had planned to take the baby for a walk after breakfast and go do some shopping, grocery & otherwise, after lunch.

Yeah, that was until the washing machine turned up broken while MIL was trying to run a load. We spent and hour or so going back and forth about the merits of fixing this one (had my vote) or buying another. In the end, it turns out a friend a few houses away has a new one and is giving away a 3 yo machine so looks like we are going to have a “newer” machine. Now the catch is that I’m stuck home waiting for the friend who is going to find us a couple of guys to move both machines to call rather than being able to take the baby for his walk . . . and its going to rain this afternoon so moving the machines and the walk really need to happen this morning . . . such fun.

Fiber wise

Its been a busy couple of days at Inspirations Yarn . . . pattern orders, yarn orders and more things in the works. I had hoped to dye yarn today, not gonna happen so maybe on Monday?

I’ve got another new to me yarn that I want to dye up and try out. Its a Wool, Bamboo, Nylon blend. I’m curious to see how it will feel and wear once knit up. Its at the same gauge as the “Classic Sock” I just added last week so I should be able to design a sock pattern that will work for both yarns which is nice. I’ve got a couple of ideas for sock patterns but I haven’t had a chance to play with them yet . . . hopefully later this next week.

I have just about finished the Baby Gift Sweater for the new little one in the family who is going to be a premie. Actually, I used this as a opportunity to design a baby sweater pattern. I have all my notes and just need to actually write it out so it makes sense to someone other than me! And the sweater is done except buttons. Those will happen either when the baby is napping or in bed for the night as sewing buttons properly just isn’t going to happen with him climbing on me.

I’m also doing another sweater, pretty much the same but in a different gauge, for a fried of a friend who just had a little girl earlier this week. I’m about 1/3 of the way done with that one and expect it to only take another day or so if I actually get a chance to work on it.

Haven’t had a chance to work on Fern or the Shawl or anything for UFOs lately but I’m hoping to get back to those once some of the baby gifts are out of the way. Seems this is the season for baby gift knitting. I’m also doing a blanket, in undyed “Decaf” for the new premie, I love how it feels, so soft and with nice drape. I’ve only done one small bit but I think its going to work out nicely.

Okay, gotta see if I can get a few things done around here before the day goes completely out the window.
