Time for an FO Happy Dance!
Last night I managed to kick off the new year by finishing not one, but two of my pending UFOs!
First I finished these:

The cuffs are done, the wholes are fixed all the ends are woven and they are ready for some snow! These are going to be my playing outside with the kid mittens since I think they will do well with snow. The hands on these are felted nice and thick and the cuffs are long enough to keep the snow out of the wrists (I had when snow goes up your sleeve and freezes your wrist, don’t you?) So these are now in the “hat bag” and ready for some action. Too bad its something like 60 degrees here today . . .

Next I finished off this:

2 Problems with this sock. First, I’m not sure where exactly I put the other one . . . and I’m not certain they will still fit him!

While I was digging out the sock to finish I found that at some point, during the trip I think, I had actually started another pair. The good news is that the other pair is a bit bigger and far more likely to fit. I planned on him having some handknit wool socks for playing outside when the weather gets cold since those silly little cotton baby socks they sell at the stores just aren’t going to keep a boys feet warm enough while playing in the snow.

I also found the Pacific Northwest shawl that I started last year for DH’s aunt in Italy. We saw her in October and I gave her a shwal I had actually made for myself. It wasn’t as fancy but it was warm and I’m hoping she will actually use it, not just tuck it away in a drawer somewhere. Now the question is do I finish the PNW Shawl or frog it? I just haven’t decided yet so in the mean time I’m going to slate it into the line up just in case.

Today I’m going to finish the bonus baby socks - I’ve got like 6 rounds before closing the toe and then I’ll work on the trim on that Lavold sweater.

I’ve also turned on the heat out in the barn and hope to go out there and spin for a little while this afternoon, that is provided Nonna is up for some baby time. When DH works two doubles in a row he isn’t the only one who winds up tired ;)

I’m still fighting the urge to cast on the baby sweater. I’ve decided that since I’m finishing 5 UFOs this month now that I’m going to start the sweater before I finish the DH Gloves. I do think the pattern I’ve chosen will go fast, perhaps a couple of evenings worth of knitting so I can probably still be back to the gloves by the weekend. Then I’ll save the handspun shawl, which I really am dying to start until after the gloves are done . . . little carrots.

How is your UFO list coming along?
