Back again . . .

Sorry I’ve been away so long . . . in fact I’ve probably been away long enough that no one is even reading this blog anymore!

My computer died. I don’t mean just crashed. I mean died. Toast. The hard drive is fried, I replaced it, got the “rescue” disks and reloaded everything and it still won’t work! I don’t know what is actually wrong now but I spent weeks trying to get it working (between sending it out to be checked to see if we could save my data, no, and waiting for parts, disks and time to fix it) Well its been a couple of months now and I don’t think it will be getting resolved.

I didn’t really have access much during that time as the other computer, DH’s, wouldn’t let me access any of the things I normally use, including the email etc for the business! I had to take his off-line and rebuild it to be able to get this far! And I’m actually not done with that yet either. Its not easy to do this stuff in 5 and 10 min. increments while dealing with a teething baby who doesn’t want to be set down!

I’m still trying to get caught back up on everything and it may take me a while but I’m sure some day it will happen, right??????

Speaking of my little “Angel” (HA!) His latest trick is pulling on the cable wire that his father still needs to “fix” as the way it is now was suppose to be temporary (how many months ago was that?? I’ve lost count) and when he pulls on it we loose the TV, the internet, and our phone since it is VOiP!!!!! And as soon as I get it all restarted and the breaking wire wiggled back into a working position and come out to the office to test it what does he do?? Yup! He pulls it again so “Mommy” will have to come back in the room to him, cleaver isn’t he?

I spent 4 hours playing this new game on Friday, back and forth, 5 min of connectivity and then nothing . . . restart it all . . . almost . . . yank, yank . . . gone! Then I decided to just deal with not having a phone or computer until the “Little darling” is in bed for the night!

Perhaps it will get fixed once his father has to spend a few hours playing the game in order to make 1 phone call, ya think?

Anyway, other than being in a technology black hole lately . . . we have colds right now. We’re on the down-hill side of it now but what a miserable time. And, as I mentioned above, the baby is teething (finally). The very first tooth has just broken through the gum. You can’t really see it, or maybe you could if he’d hold still with his tongue out of the way, which he won’t. When I can get a finger in there I can just feel the first sharp edge of it coming through. Between the cold and the teething he has been very clingy lately so its been tough to get much of anything done, poor little guy. . .

My knitting project of late has been that I’m working on the Pacific Northwest Shawl from Fiber Trends. I’m doing it in some navy blue lace weight Merino that I bought in Italy a few years back. It is intended to be a gift for DH’s favorite Aunt in Italy. He wants to go there for a visit this fall, to take the baby to meet the family there. I thought it would be nice since his Aunt is getting up there and not well and we will be staying with them, to knit her something special. The kind of thing she likely doesn’t have and wouldn’t have thought to make for herself. Not an everyday around the house shawl but something light and pretty for when they do go out, that sort of thing. I’m doing it in Navy because I seem to remember her wearing a lot of darker colors (not black, she isn’t a widow, so not black) but I was pretty sure that if I did it in something “too young” a color she would be less likely to wear it.

I haven’t worked on it much the past few weeks as my free time as been spent on other things, like computers, but I’ve made somet progress. I think I’m at the row of Sand Dollars if I remember correctly . . . I’m hoping to pick it back up this week, hoping.

Speaking of this week . . . This might be a good place to sort out my agenda for the week . . . I used to do that here and it did help so here goes . . .

We are working on planning the baby’s birthday party. It has gotten a bit nuts but DH wants to invite pretty much everyone so the list is at something like 85 people being invited! Nuts huh? And we are having it here at the house . . . and since he’s been working at lot, esp a lot of double shifts (3 this coming week) it means I’ll be doing the getting ready on my own . . . big surprise, right?

So, this weeks agenda includes (in no particular order):

Getting my hair cut (its been 6 months)
Renting chairs (I don’t have that many!)
Making more meatballs to freeze (already did 10 lbs worth)
Slicing and baking eggplant for Parm (to freeze till closer to date)
Planting annuals in gardens & pots
Cleaning the oven (before baking, it smokes too much)
Really cleaning the fridge
Cleaning rug in baby’s room (don’t ask)
Learn how to do Marinated Eggplant for Antipasto (from MIL)
Mow lawn (this rain is making it grow fast!)
Work on compter - still lots more to do in it
Go to knitting group? (big maybe)

And that is just what I can think of off the top of my head . . .not including things like the laundry that is piling up, again . . .

On that note, I’d better go . . . the boys will be back soon. I’m going to try to start posting more often. I should at least be able to do Sunday mornings most weeks while the boys are at Church together . . .

and who knows, maybe by next week I’ll even have some photos and some knitting content ;)
