Can you believe this?

Yes, you are seeing that right, it is snowing here! A while ago it was just a few flakes but now it is actually sticking to the trees and grass! and more is falling fast!

I’m just not ready for snow yet! I haven’ even finished knitting warm stuff for the baby yet! Guess I’d better get to work . . . esp. if this is any indication of what this winter will be like!

Oh, and did I mention that we are without heat or hot water today and overnight? We’re having a new boiler installed and they are most of the way done but have everything shut off until sometime tomorrow when they can finish! If it gets too cold inside here tonight we might wind up sleeping in the barn where we have electric heat at least!

Well, I’m going to take this weather as a sign to get knitting faster ’cause I believe it will be a long cold winter this year, what do you think?

I’ve just loaded two new colorways at Inspirations!
This is 1040 Heirloom Rose - I’ve shown it in 3 different yarns so you can see how the different kind of yarn effects the way the color takes. . . . Superwashes come out much darker than non-treated yarns . . . and the silk has a very different look too! And this is 1038 Midnight - again in 3 different yarns . . . .

I’ve very pleased with both of our new colorways . . .I can’t wait to get to knit something with each of them!

Busy, busy, busy!

I’ve just sent out the latest newsletter from Inspirations Yarn! We have so much happening! There is a new Mystery kit, beginner friendly and the finished project makes a great holiday gift item . . . a new Sock surprise kit which can even be purchased as a spinning kit complete with yarn sample to help you get the right gauge (I’m particularly excited about this kit, I love the socks I made while designing this) and I’ve added a bunch of new spinning fibers! We have a number of smaller batches of fiber from fleece chosen specifically for spinning fiber for the site. I’m having trouble keeping my paws off this stuff ;)

We’ve also decided to add Free Shipping when someone orders a Denise Needle Kit. The reason we are doing this is because when we started carrying these kits we were offering them at a discount off the suggested retail. Over the summer we received word from the company that we were going to be required to sell them only at or above the suggested retail. So, to compensate for the change in price, we are going to give anyone who orders the kit Free Shipping on their whole order! With the way Paypal works the shipping does get charged when the order is placed, then when I confirm the order I can go in and refund that portion of the charge.

I’m also working on updating the list of available yarns on the site. I took the list down temporarily as it was no longer accurate. And since a lot of my fiber stuff had been moved around while getting ready for the baby, I decided it would be best to go through all the tubs and take stock of what is actually there. I also managed to spend time this past weekend dyeing yarn. Yup! You read that right, I dyed yarn again! We did a big batch of Poppies this weekend and I’m planning to do another colorway later this week!

It really does feel good to be back to work!

UPDATES! In the interest of keeping this knitting…

UPDATES!

In the interest of keeping this knitting blog actually about knitting ;) I’ve started a second blog for the baby! I’m hoping to teach DH how to blog so he can also add updates on the baby’s blog . . . we’ll see. That way anyone looking for baby updates doesn’t have to bother with knitting and spinning content and vice versa.

I’ll be adding a link to the baby blog in the sidebar as soon as I have a chance, but in the mean time here it is:

I’ve been working on a new Mystery Kit and a Sock Surprise kit that has an interesting twist to it! The Mystery kit is a fun one and I’m doing it with yarns that are already dyed so we will have a bunch of them ready to mail as the orders come in! The sock kit is a Spinner’s Sock Surprise Kit! I’m also working on an idea for a Spinner’s Mystery Kit that uses some Fancier fibers.

After a few more updates to the mailing list and a little more work on the kits I’ll be ready to post them all to the site. Hopefully in just a few more days . . . provided my little buddy will let me work ;)

I’ve also got some new spinning fiber which I’ll be adding. Its White Romney that I picked out at the New Hampshire Sheep and Wool festival and sent out to be processed. I got to try it out the other day, spinning up a couple of ounces and then I knit up a swatch to photograph for the site. This stuff spins up so easily! I can’t wait to get to spin more of it to make something with!

I had also signed up for a Spinning Sample swap on Knitter’s review. I finally got to finish spinning the samples the other day and now I just need to write up my notes so that I can send it in. I used the project to come up with a yarn that I’m going to use to make a fall hat and once have it finished I’ll post a picture here . . . though it will be a few days before I get it cast on.

Okay, time to get to work!
