The Leaf Lace Shawl is DONE! Finally!

I hope to get a picture of it tomorrow . . . .

Inspirations Update

We are having a book sale! We’ve decided to put all our books on sale for 30% off!

Baby update
Tomorrow morning is our next Ultrasound & Dr. apt so we get to see the “Peanut” again! I’ll try to post another picture so you can see how much bigger the baby has gotten. I haven’t seen him/her recently, but I can tell you she/he is most definately bigger! And very, very active!

Trying something new . . . What do you think? …

Trying something new . . .

What do you think? Isn’t this little guy cute?

I’ve been waiting to try needle felting and recently ordered some of the Fiber Trends starter kits which I’ll be adding to Inspirations . . . so of course I had to give it a try.

This little mouse is the result and I can tell you he’s cat tested and approved. Cricket is actually playing with him right now.

I decided to make up my own first project rather than trying the one they suggest (felted coaster) since we don’t have a coffee table or anything like it that actually requires a coaster . . . but we do have 2 kitties who are always happy to have a new toy to toss around!

Actually, this project was so easy and gave me a chance to try using mulitiple colors and doing some shaping and adding pieces, even using all three sizes of needles so I’m thinking of including the fiber to make a couple of these with the kits as the current version doesn’t include any fiber . . .

Now I’m wondering about making things like felted “stuffed” animals for the kids . . . hmmmm.

And it will be fun to add decorations to things like felted bags . . . this could be a whole lot of fun and goodness knows I’ve got plenty of fiber around here to experiment with!

LOL! Just what I needed, one more distration ; )

Progress! The storage room is totally painted! DH…

Progress!

The storage room is totally painted! DH had wanted to put up the storage loft and shelving that is going in the room, but we have decided to wait on that since it’s nearly the end of March!

Sunday my brother came over (DH was on a double at work) and we managed to move most of the stuff out of the nursery and into the storage room. Yesterday DH helped move the rest of the major stuff. There are a few boxes and bags of things that I need to dig through and decide what to do with, but compared to what was in the room, there really isn’t much left. We even moved the wardrobe and bureau to the work room in the barn so that DH can work on repainting them to match before they come back inside.

Once I clear out the final bits of stuff, DH’s piano will be the only thing left in the room. Its an old, upright and not a bad piano, but several things, including the size of the doorway to the back door, have been changed since it was moved into the room so it won’t easily come back out again. DH has to decide if he wants to try to remove it in functioning order, or if it will be chopped up and removed. His piano, his call.

We have a friend who does plastering and he will be coming over (hopefully Saturday) to take a look at the room and then will be refinishing the walls. They currently have a textured plaster finish and we want the walls of the nursery to be smooth . . . once he is done DH will be painting . . . I’m considering adding a wall paper border and we still need to order the rug . . . but then the furniture can come back in and we can start really getting the room ready! I’d like to have it basically done before the end of May so I can spend June doing things like fussing over decorations, hanging curtains etc.

Since the “log-jam” cleared this weekend on finally being able to do something about the nursery, I’ve unfortunately, gotten nothing else done. I’d been waiting so long to start getting it ready that I just couldn’t help myself! I’d been getting rather nervous that we wouldn’t be ready in time at the rate we were going, now I feel a little better.

Knitting update

I have been working on the “Leaf Lace” shawl. Progress has been rather slow, a row here or there . . . but it is progress and I hope to have it finished sometime soon. Once that is done I may have to turn my focus to knitting baby things since I’ve done almost none for this little one and do have a number of things I’d like to have knit up before our child actually arrives. . . . and I still have to do the sweater for our nephew . . .

Well, off to drop DH for work so I’ll have the car to go to the post office. I’ve got a few orders to gather up when I get back and then we will be doing a mailing . . .

Liv is being blocked!

Here is the front of the sweater . . .

Here is the detail of the cabling.

And one of the sleeves.

I’m hoping to get the sweater sewn together by Monday so that perhaps I could have someone from my Monday night knitting group try it on so I can really see how it came out! Wish me luck!
