A Few Sheep Shy of a Farm

So why is it that . . . .

When you get just a bit behind in something things start going terribly wrong that only make you more behind?

I had gotten behind in sending out the Sock Surprise Kits. The yarns are dyed, but I apparently didn’t put enough ties on the skeins before soaking them and now they are tangled. I’m working on getting them straightened out so that I can send them, but it is slow going. When it rains, it pours, right?

I’m also about to dye up the yarns for the second Mystery Kit. The orders are in, the yarn is ready and the colorways are set. I should be able to get a least one of the colorways dyed today, maybe both which would be great since tomorrow is pie baking day and Thursday is “turkey day” so I won’t be able to do any dyeing again until at least Friday.

I still haven’t had a chance to finish the Leaf Lace Shawl . . . one of these days I’m going to find a spare 2-3 hours and get that done, really I am.

I likely won’t have a chance to post again the next few days . . . .

Here we go again!

Yup, I’ve got the early stages of yet another migraine! I’ve taken what I can take for meds for now and I’m trying to drink enough water & juice but if this thing kicks in full blast I’m a gonner!

In the mean time, I am trying to detangle yarn (yeah, I know, crazy to do with a headache, right) and I’ve got some of the outstanding orders packaged up to go out on Monday. I hope to get through more fo these skeins and have a bunch more orders ready for shipping come Monday.

I do know what is causing the headaches and we are doing all that can be done on the prevention end of things. For now that is all I’ll say on cause . . . just know that this isn’t fun and If I owe you yarn I really, really am trying my best get it out the door.

I haven’t been able to find time to work on those last few rows of the Leaf Lace Shawl, its laughing at me from the knitting couch as I type this. I hope to have it done sooner than later but at this rate there’s no telling when I’ll get to pick it up again. Good thing I didn’t plan on doing any realy holiday knitting this year! I may try to do one small project for DH, but other than that its just not going to happen . . .

Okay, how’s this for a fun way to spend the weekend? I got a migraine on Friday, it got worse, a lot worse on Saturday, and while the worst was over today I had that lingering achey feeling where you just know if you do the wrong thing the headache is coming back. Yup! 3 whole days of migraine headache!

The best part is that is the second time its happened within a week! I’ve gotten almost nothing done for a week now because of these stupid head aches! The good news is I do know (now) what was causing them and we are working on preventing this from becoming a regular scheduled event.

The down side is I’ve gotten basically nothing done pretty much all week. Not good. I’ll be sending out emails tomorrow to everyone with sock kit orders, they are going to be a few days late. I’m just hoping everyone will understand . . . I’ve actually got the yarn dyed for 2/3 of the kits and I’ll be finishing those and the other orders from over the weekend tomorrow so with drying time I should have things in the mail by Wednesday.

Oh, and tomorrow is the last day for orders on Mystery Kit #2! Those kits will be mailed approximately November 30th.

Barn update:

The barn now has stairs! The guys finished putting in the staircase the other day! We can get to the 2nd floor without that little rickety ladder! Now we are trying to get the electrical finished up so we can have the inspectors in and then do the insulation. Once that is done DH can put some wallboard up in the storage area and I should be able to start putting stuff in soon! That will let me get things better organized for the business and be able to start prepping more yarns ahead of time. I’ve got a small amount of stuff that has been dyed ahead but I couldn’t do a whole lot more until we had more space.

Okay, few things to finish up and then I’m going to bed so that perhaps I can wake up ready to get something done in the morning! Fingers crossed!

Sorry I haven’t been a round much lately!

I do hope to have pictures of DH’s sweater and Pixie Dust’s scarf soon. We’ve been having a busy couple of weeks with Inspirations Yarn and with things at home so its been a little tough to keep up.

We’re making some changes with Inspirations, adding the spinning fibers, working on getting pictures of fibers so we can post them, and we’ve added a new pricing level on our yarns. We now offer larger hanks of yarn for a price that is lower than the price of buying that amount in seperate skeins. Now its your choice how you’d like the yarn to come, small skiens or large . . . I’ve updated a few of the colorway pages to reflect the new pricing structure and I’m working on the rest. It may take me a few days to finish them up.

SSK #1 - I hate to admit it, but I’m running just a bit behind on the sock kits. I had hoped to have them out on Saturday but now I believe its going to be on Monday instead.

Mystery Kit #2 - Just a few more days to order the 2nd Mystery Kit! We are closing this one on November 15th. This kit introduces a new yarn and its one that I really like and couldn’t wait to be able to offer!

This is pixiedust. I’m just stoppin’ by to say that I finished my first project ever! I’m so proud of myself and I finished before my time limit was up. I also finished early enough to use the spinning wheel. I spun 1 oz. of corrie and I got my needles. Don’t worry Martheme and I are going to put pictures up later.
