Its all a learning experience, right?
I stayed up far too late dyeing yarns last night. I was working on the 2nd colorway for the Mystery kits and got into a groove with doing the painting so I just kept going long, long after I should have stopped. Lets put it this way, techically, it was this morning when I stopped. I finally got to bed somewhere around 2 am. Not a habit I want to get into!
However, I’m happy to report, the yarn turned out wonderfully! I’m very please with how both colorways have turned out and I really think you are going to like them! I’m about to hang yesterdays production out to dry on our clothes line. What a strange load of laundry it makes out there. Good thing no one really looks into our back yarn, they’d think I’m even stranger than they already do! I don’t think raiding the neighborhood shrubbery for Mulberry leaves to feed my silkworms last year did much for my image in this neighborhood
My brother showed up just before 9 to work with DH on the barn. They are busy now, painting the siding that will cover it before they put it up. I guess its easier that way, I’ve vowed not to question their construction techniques if they don’t question my dyeing techniques too much.
I’ve got some other yarns to skein up today either for orders that need to go out asap or for yarns that were ordered along with Mystery kits. DH thought we had yarn and fiber stuff all over the house before I started this, you should see it now! I’ve got yarn every where! And I do mean everywhere, even in the bath tub!
I went to the post office yesterday to mail some orders (which reminds me, I owe a few folks emails and tracking numbers, see what happens when I get caught up in dyeing?) While I was in the post office I mentioned approximately how many packages I’ll be looking to mail the end of the week (give you a hint, I don’t have that many fingers and toes
The look on the woman’s face was priceless! Her jaw just dropped. She actually wrote their phone number on the top of the receipt and asked me to call them before I come down so they can make sure they are ready for me! Hows that for funny! Guess we’ll be trying to time my visit for a spot when no one is on coffee break! This should be fun. I should have asked her for some of those neat plastic tubs they use, but I fogot so I guess I’ll be using laundry baskets. Hmm, perhaps I should make sure the laundry is put away so I have baskets to use . . .
Its funny, with all I’ve been doing the past few days I actually haven’t had a chance to do any knitting in days. My fingers are getting pretty twitchy to be knitting again. I may actually take a day “off” once the kits are out and just spend it doing things like sipping tea and knitting. Afterall, everyone needs a day off once in a while, right?
Okay, well, the boys are looking for some lunch, he’s asked 2x already and if I don’t go soon he’s going to turn into a real bear. Not a person that handles low blood sugar well. Since I haven’t started dyeing yet today perhaps I’ll make him a plate of pasta? He hasn’t had pasta in day, only takeout stuff . . . . just have to run to the grocery store and get things like bread first. Ah well, off to it. Have a great day!
