I have been trying for 30 minutes to start this post and every time I start to type a phone rings or someone comes into the office that I need to assist! At this rate its going to be a long Tuesday!

I did do some spinning last night, both on a drop spindle and on the Joy. On the rop spindle I started with some pale pink Tencel, but it just wasn’t working well for the drop spindle (I’m not all that good with one yet, I got a wheel after a month of using one). I generally only use the drop in spits and starts, I tend to want to spin more/faster than I can on a drop so I usually stick to the wheels. I wound the pale pink singles on to a floss bobbin and I’m considering trying my hand at embroidering some flowers on to something with it. The would make lovely flower petals on a girls sweater or dress . . .

I switched to another Ashland Bay fiber . . . this time a wool . . . in a dark green blend with some bits of tan in it . . . I’m spinning it up fairly fine with the idea that perhaps I can make a small shawl out of it when its plied up . . . something light and lacey for summer wear . . .

Speaking of summer wear, the new Vogue Knitting has arrived. There are some great summer tops in this issue and there are several I’d actually wear! I only looked quickly last night just before bed so I can’t say which they were but I’ll take a closer look tonight. DH thinks I’m crazy since I often read the actual patterns as bedtime reading! Funny thing is I find that if I don’t fully understand where they are going with a pattern, if I read it just before falling asleep and then look at it again the next night, my subconscious seems to work out what ever it was I was struggling to understand. So I guess you could say, in a way, I’m knitting in my sleep!

Looking at this issue got me thinking about the yarns I did buy toward the end of last summer with the idea of making summer tops for this year . . . perhaps I should consider taking them out and reviewing what I have and pick a pattern or two to do up in the next month or so before the weather gets warm . . . I had done one “tank” top last summer in a wool/silk blend . . . but it accidentially ended up in the washing machine where it proptly shrunk to a size that I can’t wear to work. I may be able to get away with wearing it around the house this year, but definately not to work . . . major bummer!

I also got a spool of JaegerSpun wool/silk blend in a fine lace weight recently that I’d like to make a summer top out of. Something light and lacy and a little bit dressy would be good. The color is a dark maroon so I’m thinking it would be good for something to wear out in the evening . . . . perhaps with just a couple of sparkly beads stitched to the front of it near the neck line . . . . maybe.

I also have socks that I made for J for x-mas that need to be made longer and two sweaters for other people that need mending . . . maybe I should force myself to do the mending before I’m allowed to actually start one of these other projects? That way starting something new (for me the best part) can be the reward for finishing something that really should get done . . . Oh, speaking of finishing. I was on such a tear last night in terms of spinning that I didn’t finish the handspun socks after all!

Major case of Startitis coming on!!!!!!!

Okay, I have to go do something, but I’ll ramble some more later if I have a chance . . .
