Well, Friday I did wind up staying home. I got like no sleep Thursday night. My head was so stuff I just couldn’t breathe. I slept a bunch on Friday and yesterday and while I’m still stuffy I do feel a bit better.
I did get some knitting done . . . I finished the kid size practice socks. . . next weekend I’ll try them on my neice so I can see how they fit and if they actually do fit her she can have them . . .
I also finished the first sock of the handspun pair , though something when a bit weird with the heel . . . but they seem to fit okay so I’m going to leave it as is. Afterall, they are socks, as long as they funtion properly they don’t need to be perfect, right? I’m most of the way through the foot of the 2nd one and should be starting the heel by this afternoon. I am curious to see how this yarn is going to wear over time. Its spun from Romney that I got from Skylines Farm and while it isn’t the worlds softest yarn, it does have wonderful luster and I think they are going to be sturdy socks. As part of my goal to have hand knit socks and nothing else, its important that they wear well, especially the early pairs as I wear them frequently. Not that I don’t have or wear store bought socks, but I am trying to move to wearing only the handknit ones as much as possible.
DH hung up a shelf for me in the bedroom with a pole that hangs under it. The shelf now has the antique finds I made a few weeks ago (though not the hackle, that’s too heavy) and a spool of weaving wool. The pole has several skeins of my handspun yarns and hand dyed yarns hanging from it and I’ll be adding more as I finish them.
The wheel on the other hand is still in pieces. I just haven’t felt up to tackling it yet. I hope to be better enough in a few days to work on it again. I really would like to have it back! I have a whole other skein of this sock yarn waiting to be spun and some silk that I dyed last fall that I’d like to play with . . . .
I’m also fight a strong urge to head up to the antique store this afternoon. Its been a while, perhaps they have some new fiber stuff . . . . might be worth a drive to find out! If A shows up this afternoon perhaps we’ll take a ride. Afterall, I haven’t been out of the house since I got home from work on Thursday . . . . might do me good to go for a ride in the country
Well, off to get more coffee and work on the sock for a few more minutes. . . .
