Monday Well, I didn’t get a whole heck of a lot…
Monday
Well, I didn’t get a whole heck of a lot accomplished this weekend, but we did have some fun.
Saturday was my cousin’s 7th B-day party and she agreed to share it with our Dog who turns 7 tomorrow. I tried, very unsuccessfully, to bake a Scooby-Doo B-day cake for the dog. First I slightly over-cooked the cake, not burnt but a little crisp around the edges. Then I managed to somehow competely mess up making Chocolate Butter Cream Icing for the brown parts of Scooby. Then I couldn’t get the icing bags to work to save my life! Oh, and we ran out of powdered sugar with only 1/2 the icing done, thanks to the messed up chocolate . . . . so 30 min. after we were suppose to already be at the party, I made the executive decision to scrap Scooby-Doo. Major bummer!
We left the cake and mess behind and went to the party late. The party itself was a blast, nothing like a 7 yr. old’s birthday to cheer you up! Arrow had a blast with the kids and loved getting to have pasta and then birthday cake with them. He even got a new toy to play with and went for a walk. All in all a great day for the dog.
Yesterday we went to see Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. DH and a friend had been planning to go for a while and kept getting sidetracked, but managed to plan it for yesterday morning. I just tagged along for the ride
I had seen it once, the week it came out, but had planned to see it again anyway. I brought DH’s hat with me to work on and yarn to start another and did as much as I could on each before getting to points where I needed to see what I was doing. His hat was nearly done by the time we left.
The movie was great! I loved getting to see it again, after seeing it once and then rewatching the first two a couple of times . . . its amazing how many more things make sense when you rewatch something like that. There is just so much to it that its hard to catch it all the first time around. I’ll probably even go see it once more while its still in the theatres . . . just because.
DH wound up home to watch the big game last night, since the friends he was going to watch it with are sick. We had fun anyhow, made dinner and camped out in front of the televison. I finished his hat during the first 1/2 of the game and started another, this time for the box . . . . I made 3 hats in January, but they all found homes as soon as they were finished!
Actually, from talking to my family, I’ve come to the conclusion that the only way any of them will wear hats, scarves or mittens seems to be when I make them for them! Guess I’m going to have to step up production a bit!!!
I didn’t get anything done on the spinning or the shawl, both are now totally behind schedule. I’m stilll in a bit of a knitting rut, but once I climb out of it I’ll get back to both those projects.
Alrighty, back to work. I hope to start working on the updated blog background later this afternoon if time allows . . .
