Okay, so I needed to start another project like I need another hole in my head . . . .

but I did start another one!

I had a lot of “chores” to do last night and a rabbit who has decided now would be a good time to blow her coat! Crazy bunny! So there wasn’t much play time left . . . . but after doing a repeat of the edging for the shawl I’m working on, I took the wheel out and dusted her off!

It took a little doing to figure out just what size it needed to be, and I’m hoping I got it right . . . . but I’ve started spinning the singles for Mom’s shawl! The pattern she chose used Jamieson & Smith’s 2 ply lace weight, which I have the color cards for so I had very small samples to look at. I picked apart a strand of one color just to see what the singles actually look like. Its a hair larger than the yarn I’m using for the lace shawl I’m working on now. And I do mean a hair, pretty much literally! I only spun a little bit so far and I can see that it is going to take a while. I’m in luck though, that this fleece Mom picked really does seem to be a good one and came through both processing and dyeing well and seems to be spinning rather easily and with a minimum of “stuff” in the fiber. I’d like to try to get the singles spun by Mother’s Day. That would be a full year after we bought the fleece . . . and then maybe I can have the shawl done by her birthday in September, or perhaps it will take until next Christmas . . . guess we’ll have to see how that goes after I get it started . . . Okay, some quick calculations show that if I spin 1 oz per week I should have the yarn finished by Mother’s day. I wonder how long it will take me to spin an oz of this stuff? Guess I’ll have to figure that out this week . . .

No progress on the baby sweater, the bunny took up the time I had planned to spend on that . . . and since I haven’t finished with Ms. Buns it may be tomorrow or Thursday before I can work on it again. . . oh, well.

I also wound off the plied merino/angora last night. I have to say, it really is Yummy! I still need to set the twist, and I had plied this a bit more than I did the orginal skein. I like this better and I may go back and add some twist to that plying to balance it out more and make it more like this is, much better. I reallly want to make my Fair Isle Angora hat, but I think I may have to put it on the back burner until I finish a few other things . . . lets see how long that lasts!
