I was definitely born in the wrong time!

I took a day off from work on Friday to have an extra long, long weekend and spent the day canning pears! I didn’t get them all done, in fact I still have a large basket full to go, hopefully tonight before they spoil . . . It just seems like such a Fall thing to do, sitting on our patio, peeling and slicing great piles of fruit to be boiled in sugar syrup and dropped into jars. I only did about a dozen pints, pears taking a long time to peel, slice, core etc. If I can get another 1/2 dozen or so done tonight that will be a help . . . These are going in the holiday gift bag pile so they are one more thing I can take off my list!

In other news: We have a broken kitty!!! She apparently fell from the tree in the front yard (there is a broken branch on the ground) and has wrenched her pelvic joint out of where it belongs so that her hips are not currently connected to her spine. We thought at first that she might have broken her back; she was not moving her back legs or responding when we touched her feet. A long, expensive, trip to the vet (on a Sunday of a Holiday weekend no less) later we know what her injuries are and that she will recover in 4-6 weeks! In the mean time, she is receiving nursing care at home and will remain indoors for the forseeable future! Poor Isabelle!

Knitting Content: The birthday socks have become Christmas socks! There just wasn’t time to finish them before Saturday . . . . so another present was obtained and the socks will become a holiday gift. The good news is that they are just over 1/2 done and with a bit of effort could be in the F.O. pile by the end of the week.

Speaking of Finished Objects! My Booga Bag is done! I should have the pre- and post felting pictures of it tomorrow . . .

Oh and I warped my loom for the first time last night!!!! I’m so proud of myself for figuring this out as I’ve never done anything like this before! The yarn I’m using is a bit fuzzy and the warp is sticking together a bit much for my liking but I have something on there and I’m practicing with it! I’ll be making placemats and dish towels in no time!!! This is very exciting since I’ve had the loom since May and this is my first attempt at using it!

We’re getting psyched up for our dyeing workshop next weekend! A. and J. and M. are coming over to play! I just hope the weather holds enough that we can still do this outdoors! I can’t wait to see how all our stuff comes out. And I have buckets worth of fiber to dye so I’m sure I’ll be doing this again . . . .

Have a great short week, I should be back tomorrow with some pictures.
