TGIF!!!

I actually got to spin!!!!

I brought A. with me to spinning last night and she had a blast! Lucy was kind enough to let her use the shop wheel (an Ashford Joy, double Treadle) which A had an easier time with than my single treadle . . . she actually spun about 1/2 a bobbin of nice even yarn, it should wind up around sport weight or a little heavier when she is done. We brought a bunch of the Finn/Ramboulett fiber with us and used the scale to weigh out about 22 oz. for her to spin. She is going to spin on my wheel when ever we can manage it until she has it all spun and then she is going to knit herself a sweater! A fairly ambitious plan, esp. for an 11 yr. old!!! But then, she’s not your average kid either ;)

I spun most of a bobbin of the Romney. Its not coming out quite as soft as I would have liked, I need to try spinning it just a bit more loosely (though after the purple stuff I don’t want to go too loose!) I’m hoping to make an Aran jacket from this yarn and at the moment it looks like it will be between a DK/light worsted weight once plied . . . . hopefully I’ll have enough patience to actually use it once I’m done spinning it!

I’m hoping to do some more spinning this weekend, though I believe there is a pile of laundry calling my name somewhere . . . .

Have a great weekend!
