A Few Sheep Shy of a Farm

Oh, almost forgot . . . the silkworm moths are hatching!!!! and only 4 more worms to spin!!! I can’t wait to start making yarn from this stuff!!!

So what do you do with fiber/yarn that you aren’t sure about using?

I”ve spun a little over 4 oz of the wool/llama fiber. I plied most of it (a bobbin full) last night and threw it in scalding water to set the twist . . . when I went to beat it over the side of the tub I noticed that it was shedding a lot!!!! Enough to make the side of my tub fuzzy!!! Yuck!!! I’m not happy about the quality of this stuff at all!!! Now instead of adding it to the sweater I was planning and some for my mother’s shawl (her idea) I’m thinking maybe it will wind up as something felted somewhere? I’m just so dissappointed! Guess I really did learn to look more carefully before I buy something!!! And at least is was only a $20 lesson, could have been a lot worse!

The only other thing is now I’m going to have to find another similar brown fiber in order to do these projects as planned . . . . hmm . . .guess this means some more shopping!

I’m having a few knitting/spinning friends over this Thursday for an evening of wine, food and fiber. Which means I’ll be spending this evening getting my act together rather than doing much knitting . . . . but I’m sure it will be worth the effort! Especially since Friday is a holiday!!! Yipe!!! I love hanging out with friends on nights when you don’t have to get up first thing the next morning!!! It makes it so much more relaxing!!!
